About Alan

My Legal Journey

Attorney Alan Kansas is a father of two and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Jewish Community Day School, the Jewish Community Center, and the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans.  Alan is a “professional” disc golfer, former New Orleans Disc Golf Club (a/k/a NO Team) President, and current BNI – Crescent City Business Partners member.

In the first part of my career, while working at large defense-oriented firms, I represented big businesses in a wide variety of employment litigation settings. In 2008, I established The Law Office of Alan Kansas, LLC. I represented employees and small business owners regarding employment, business law, and other litigation. I always appreciated the opportunity to support my clients as they faced difficult legal situations. However, I wanted to do more to help them avoid legal problems in the first place.

Over the past two decades,  this desire propelled me to develop unique methods of helping employee and employer Employment Law clients to find the best solutions. By looking beyond a contingency fee model of employee representation, getting to know people, and focusing on giving clients practical advice and honest answers, I empower them to make the best decisions for their situations.

Several years ago, I expanded my law practice, based in Gretna, Louisiana, into Estate Planning and Succession Law. I realized the importance of proper estate planning and that by guiding my clients, I became an even more helpful and personal legal life adviser. My goal is to help you plan your future to avoid potential legal issues and live your best life.
